Hello, all. I'm thrilled to report that my mom is safely back at home as of Friday evening. The doctors did several tests and she did have a minor surgery, but all went well. The doctors, unfortunately, were still not able to diagnose the original problem, so we're still praying that her symptoms will subside. For all the well-wishes and prayers, my family and I thank you!
Things have been pretty exciting in Suburbia lately. Kylie joined a soccer team and has her first practice and game this week. The hot pink jerseys and knee-high socks are too adorable! Not to mention the itty bitty cleats and the miniature soccer ball. Dave and I had her out in the backyard practicing and let me tell ya - the girl's got talent. :) Watch out Beckham!
On Thursday, I spent a couple of hours in her Kindergarten classroom. (I try not to be THAT mom, but I really just wanted to see how she interacts with the teacher and her fellow classmates.) My concerns that she would be behind the other kids were quickly eased when I began to see the things they were working on. Things like learning letter sounds and learning to recognize numbers... Kylie can read many books and is quite good at math! Now my worry is that she will not be challenged and may get bored and become problematic or worse, grow to dislike school. When we talk about her day she doesn't like talking about the assignments. She only wants to talk about her friends and playtime. Do any of you have some advice on how to handle this situation? I'm not saying she's too smart for the class, but I do know that she is not being challenged on a scholastic level.
Today is Sunday, of Labor Day Weekend, and my brothers, sisters-in-law, my nephew, Brady, Dave, Kylie and I are gathering at my mom's for a good ol' fashion BBQ. The kids are ready to swim and have some outdoor fun. I hope you all are able to spend time with your loved ones and please... don't work too hard! Happy Labor Day!
Love,
Elizabeth
P.s. Please remember to keep the City of New Orleans, its neighboring cities and their residents in your prayers. Gustav is coming and its not looking good... :(

Miss Y'all!
To all my Siestas,
I wanted to tell you all what a wonderful time I had in San Antonio and how grateful I am to have met you all. I made some dear friends in just a few short days and I plan to keep those friendships forever. Every single woman I met has a dear place in my heart and I feel so blessed for the time we had together.
I would also like to request your prayers for my mother. My mom was in a car accident in 1987 which left her paralyzed from the chest down. She is bound to a wheelchair, but she is a strong, independent and beautiful woman with a spirit to match. She has been ill for a couple of weeks and her illness has stumped the doctors (she's good at that!). So, on Monday, she was admitted to the hospital for testing. In the hospital they will be doing a CT scan along with multiple other tests to determine a diagnosis. The doctor feels that surgery may be necessary and because of her disability, surgeries are riskier than usual. Please pray for a simple diagnosis and that surgery is not needed.
Again, it was wonderful meeting you all and I am so looking forward to seeing you in the future!
Love,
Elizabeth (Beth)
P.s. I'm happy to report that I had no sore muscles on Sunday after my shenanigans with the splits!
